Manager Tony Pulis, who recently signed a one-year contract extension is unsure of the status of his injured players as forwards José Rondón, Nacer Chadli and Saido Berahino are all questionable for the game. West Brom is just three points ahead of 18th-place Hull City and the relegation zone and is 13 behind league-leading Liverpool.
Burnley FC – A Closer Look:
Newly-promoted Burnley enters the game in a respectable ninth place in the standings with 14 points from four wins, two draws and five losses. They’ve scored just 11 goals in 11 games and have allowed 15 against. They’re four points above the relegation zone and a dozen behind first-place Liverpool. Burnley’s on a decent run at the moment and enjoying a three-game undefeated string.
They have a pair of victories and a draw in their past three outings with home triumphs over Crystal Palace and Everton and a 0-0 draw away at Old Trafford with Manchester United. The draw with Man United was their first clean sheet and point away from home after losing 3-1 at Southampton, 3-0 at Chelsea and 3-0 at Leicester. Defender Stephen Ward is the lone player on the injury list and he could be back in time for Monday’s match.
West Bromwich Albion vs Burnley FC – Takeaway:
These are two teams which will be aiming for a mid-table finish this year, but in reality will be happy as long as they’re not relegated at the end of the campaign. This doesn’t look like the most exciting matchup on paper, but it should be a competitive game between two evenly-matched squads.
