Seattle Seahawks – A Closer Look:

Seattle’s 31-25 win over Buffalo on Monday halted a two-game winless skid and they’ll be looking for a second straight victory against a tough New England squad. Quarterback Russell Wilson had one of his best outings of the season as he went 20 for 26 in passing for 282 yards. He threw a pair of touchdown passes and also ran in his first TD of the season. Receiver Jimmy Graham was the recipient of both touchdown passes and he finished the game with 103 yards on eight receptions. Wilson didn’t seem to be bothered by an early-season knee injury as he was quite mobile. The Seattle ground attack wasn’t all that effective though as it racked up just 33 yards in its 12 carries.

New England’s pass rush is definitely a weak point, so Russell might find himself with sometime and room on Sunday as he’s not likely to be under much pressure. Seattle’s defense needs to be better though as their opponents have scored 10 times on their past 13 possessions. The defense has been weaker without Michael Bennett in the lineup and the pass rush has suffered. They’ll need to pressure Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady or they’ll be in trouble.

New England Patriots – A Closer Look:

New England has been unbeatable since Brady returned from his suspension. They’ve gone 4-0 with the veteran at the helm and have averaged 34 points on the scoreboard in those four contests. They’ve won those outings by 16.3 points on average and are 4-0 ATS as well. In addition, tight end Rob Gronkowski appears to be healthy and in top form. His receiving-yard average in four games with Brady this season is 118 and he’s caught a touchdown pass in each of his last three games.

The Patriots will be facing a struggling Seattle defense which has allowed 21 of the last 32 third down attempts. This could be a blessing for New England since their third down conversion rate is 47.2 per cent, which is ranked fourth-best in the league. The Patriots recently traded linebacker Jamie Collins to Cleveland, but head coach Bill Belichick has had time to prepare his team due to last week’s bye. In fact, his record with New England after a bye stands at an impressive 12-4.

Next up for both teams:

  • Seattle home to Philadelphia Sunday, November 20
  • New England at San Francisco Sunday, November 20
