Manchester United vs West Ham United – Head to Head:

  • These two clubs met four times last season with West Ham winning 3-2 at home and drawing 0-0 at Old Trafford in the Premier League. They also met twice in the FA Cup and played to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in March. Man United then won 2-1 on the road in the replay in April. Overall, these two sides have met 134 times in the past with Man United winning 62, losing 43 and drawing the other 29. West Ham has just two wins in the last 20 meetings along with 13 losses and five draws.

Manchester United – A Closer Look:

Manchester United sits in sixth place in the Premier League after 12 matches with 19 points on five wins, four draws and three defeats. United has 17 goals to their name and has allowed 14 against. They won their first three league games of the season, but have just two wins in their past nine league outings along with three defeats and four draws. However, they had six wins in their past 12 games in all competitions before heading into their November 24th game with Feyenoord. These include a pair of victories in the Europa League as well as beating Northampton and Man City in the League Cup.

Man United enters the game nine points behind league-leading Chelsea and six points back of fourth-place Arsenal. United has yet to beat a team above them in the standings this season as they were beaten by Man City and Chelsea and drew with Liverpool and Arsenal. Mourinho has a few players listed on the squad’s on the injury list. Forward James Wilson may miss the entire season after undergoing knee surgery while defenders Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling are out until December and midfielder Marouane Fellaini is a question mark. However, forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic will return from suspension.

West Ham United – A Closer Look:

West Ham enters the weekend in 17th place in the 20-team league with just 11 points from three wins, two draws and seven defeats. They’ve scored just 13 goals and have allowed 23 against. They’re just one point ahead of newly-promoted Hull City and the last relegation spot and are 17 points adrift of the league lead. The Hammers managed only one road win this season, which was a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in a London derby. They’ve dropped matches to Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City, West Brom and Everton away from home so far.

Manager Slaven Bilic has some tough games ahead of him as his squad faces Arsenal and Liverpool after meeting Man United and if he loses all of them there’s a good chance he’ll be out of a job. Bilic also has some injury problems as defender Winston Reid is suspended for this game. Defender Reece Oxford is out until sometime in January and fellow defender Arthur Masuaku isn’t expected back until early December. In addition, midfielder Gokhan Tore is still a week or two away and the same goes for injury-prone striker Andy Carroll. Meanwhile, defender Sam Byram is back in training, and is questionable.

Manchester United vs West Ham United – Takeaway:

Both Man United and West Ham were unlucky not to win last week, but they’re both slipping down the standings at a steady rate. They could each use the three points and hopefully they’ll both attempt to take them on Sunday instead of settling for a draw.
