Chelsea’s lead in the English Premier League is just eight points with 13 games to go in the season and they’ll be trying to extend that when they host Swansea City at Stamford Bridge in London this Saturday, February 25th. The Blues’ last outing was a 2-0 away win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fifth round of the FA Cup last weekend. Swansea hasn’t played since February 12th when they beat reigning Premier League champions Leicester City 2-0 at home in league action.

Chelsea leads second-place Manchester City by eight points, third-place Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal by 10 points, fifth-place Liverpool by 11 and sixth-place Manchester United by 12 points.
The Blues are now unbeaten in their past eight games in all competitions after their 13-game winning streak was halted with a 2-0 away defeat to London neighbors Tottenham. The 13-straight victories was a new team record, but it was just one game short of Arsenal’s Premier League mark. Still, Chelsea has been beaten only twice since October 26th in all competitions. The team has seven wins, two draws and one loss in their last 10 league outings with 19 goals for and seven against.
As far as injuries go, manager Antonio Conte has a relatively healthy squad to choose from as both goaltender Thibaut Courtois and defender David Luiz are expected to be in the lineup. There are no other players on the injury list.
Swansea City – A Closer Look:
Swansea has improved lately with four wins in their past six games to dig themselves out of the relegation zone. They enter the contest in 15th place in the 20-team league with 24 points out of a possible 75 after 25 matches. They have seven wins, three draws and 15 losses with 31 goals scored and 54 allowed. Swansea is four points ahead of 18th-place Hull City and the relegation zone.
Swansea has three wins, a draw and eight defeats away from home in league play this season with 13 goals for and 26 against. In their past 10 league games, they have four wins and six losses with 12 goals scored and 23 conceded. The team has pulled up its socks since Paul Clement took over during the Christmas period, but they’ll need to keep it up to stay out of the relegation zone.
Clement has a few injury concerns to deal with though as midfielder Leon Britton is questionable while midfielder Nathan Dyer is out for the season with an Achilles injury. In addition, midfielder Sung-Yueng Ki and forward Jefferson Montero are both expected to be out for two or three more weeks.
