football 41 - Bears vs Eagles Odds - 2017 Week 12 NFL Betting PreviewThe Philadelphia Eagles are running and hiding from the competition in the NFC East, so it is time for some observers to look ahead to the playoffs and assess whether they can do a lot of damage. They seem to have a lot of the elements in place, and they are on track to have home field advantage, but there’s not much of a margin for them, so they have to beat teams like the Chicago Bears, who they will play host to on Sunday at 1 PM ET at Lincoln Financial Field. Bears vs Eagles Odds – CJ’s Take:

The Eagles have sprinted to a 9-1 straight-up record (8-2 ATS), and their 37-9 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night gave them a bloated four-game lead in the division. So with six games to go, it’s not likely they are going to relinquish that, especially as Dallas is missing Ezekiel Elliott. Carson Wentz had some growing pains last year as a rookie, but at this moment he is showing why he was such a high draft pick out of North Dakota State last season, as he has thrown 25 touchdown passes with only five interceptions. By all accounts, Wentz is someone who really takes command of the huddle and can make decisions on the fly. He also has more weapons at his disposal than he did last season, and that includes a revamped running game that has Philadelphia averaging 4.6 yards per carry as a team.

The Bears have been forced back into rebuilding mode with rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky at the controls. He’s having some problems of his own, completing just 53% of his passes with 17 sacks. But Chicago hopes to compete by running the football, and that much they did against Detroit last week, with 222 yards on the ground. Unfortunately, they fell victim to a late field-goal and dropped a 27-24 decision at Soldier Field. The Bears who register 24 first downs in that game and almost 400 yards of total offense, dropped to 3-7 straight-up, although they have been profitable, going 6-3-1 against the number.

Philadelphia has won seven straight games, and their only loss of the season came at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs. Wentz, who is averaging 7.6 yards per pass attempt, also has a 103.4 quarterback rating and is certainly one of the top candidates to win the MVP award. Of course, it helps if your team can advance the ball on the ground, and there some real depth in the Eagles’ backfield, with LeGarrette Blount already present and accounted for, along with rookie Corey Clement, and now they have seen the addition of Jay Ajayi, who had three different 200-yard efforts last season but was let go by the Miami Dolphins. And Wentz has developed great chemistry with his short-range target, tight end Zach Ertz (45 catches, 536 yards).

BetAnySports patrons might know that Trubisky had only one season as a collegiate starter at the University of North Carolina, so the plan was to bring him along slowly. But they were really not getting any traction out of Mike Glennon, who had been acquired (and given a huge contract, we might add) to keep the seat warm until the youngster was ready to play. John Fox sensed that things might be slipping away, so he went to Trubisky early. It is tough for the Bears to stretch the field in the passing game, so they have to rely more on their running backs, and the main cog there is Jordan Howard, who could be headed back to his second straight Pro Bowl, as he has amassed 841 yards on the season.

Of course, the big challenge is that Chicago might fall behind too far too early, where the ground game doesn’t make a lot of sense anymore. Philadelphia has scored more points in the first quarter than any team in the NFL, and they’ve given up the least. So naturally, there are good bet to get have the gate quickly.
