Through a set of circumstances that when beyond their control, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were not able to play their season opener last week against the Miami Dolphins. Some of the Buccaneers’ personnel moves in the off-season were designed to afford quarterback Jameis Winston with some additional weaponry. DeSean Jackson, the explosive big-play wide receiver, came aboard as a free agent. He was the guy who was principally responsible for stretching the field with the Washington Redskins and Kirk Cousins last season. Also, first-round draft pick was spent on tight end O.J. Howard of Alabama, who is expected to develop into one of the league’s best at his position.

Winston threw for 4090 yards last season, and even though he was intercepted 18 times, he is certainly not one of those “dink-and-dunk” types, preferring to get the ball down the field, which is exactly the preferred offensive attack of head coach Dirk Koetter.

The interesting part of this game is that Chicago’s quarterback is Mike Glennon, who was once the starter for Tampa Bay before Winston arrived. He was signed to a big-money deal by the Bears with the idea that he would keep the seat warm while Mitchell Trubisky, the second overall pick in the 2017 draft, develops. So obviously Glendon is out to impress his former employer. The difficulty with the NC State grad is that he doesn’t necessarily produce a passing game that can stretch the field, and Chicago is short on wide receiving talent. They got even shorter with injury-riddled former first-rounder Kevin White ruled out of action.

So the Bears will have to improvise with a running game. And VietBet patrons know that they have the ability to pound it between the tackles. Jordan Howard had a sensational rookie season for them, getting 1313 yards, and mighty-mite Tarik Cohen, a fourth-round draft pick and North Carolina A & T, accounted for 103 all-purpose yards against Atlanta. Those two could nicely complement each other.

Doug Martin is suspended for the Buccaneers, who have covered just one of their last six as a home favorite. And if pre-season form is any indication, Winston and the Bucs have to work on a lot of things. Their first-team offense scored just one touchdown in 14 possessions during the exhibition slate.
