Well, if Michael Vick does not have his playbook expanded for his second start at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, it won’t be because he didn’t have enough preparation time. The Steelers are coming off a Thursday night game where they lost 23-20 to the Baltimore Ravens, and now they play on Monday night as they face off against the San Diego Chargers in a battle of 2-2 teams. The game gets underway at 8:30 PM ET at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, and while BetAnySports customers watch the game on ESPN, they can also partake in wagering, in real time, against the football betting odds, made possible by the state-of-the-art software provided by Live Betting Extra.

- Pittsburgh Steelers +3 (+110)

- Under 45.5 points -110
Naturally everyone knows by now that Ben Roethlisberger went down with a tear of his MCL, necessitating the insertion of Vick as the starting quarterback, which made for a somewhat awkward situation, considering that the styles of the two quarterbacks are so much different. The Steelers had only a practice or two for the first team to work with Vick before they took on Baltimore, but the conditions are little bit better now. And Pittsburgh gets another player back from suspension this week, as wide receiver Martavis Bryant returns.
The Chargers have won tight games in their two home appearances, but lost both contests when they went out on the road. Last week they were in tougher than expected against the Cleveland Browns, surviving with a 30-27 victory. Philip Rivers had to deal with a situation where he was missing some offensive linemen, but he managed to get the job done anyway, and has now put up some impressive numbers – he has completed 71% of his passes for almost nine yards per attempt.
With Bryant returning, Vick has a lot of options at his disposal, with the foremost being Antonio Brown, who already has 478 receiving yards. But the cast also includes Darius Heyward-Bey and Markus Wheaton, not to mention tight end Heath Miller. Le’Veon Bell has come back from his own two-game suspension and has 282 yards from scrimmage (rushing and receiving combined) in two games. So this team can develop some continuity with Vick at the controls, they could continue to be a prolific offense.
Quite obviously Rivers is happy to have a future Hall of Famer who has been his go-to target for years. Tight end Antonio Gates had to sit out the first four games for violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, and in his stead Ladarius Green has done a very good job. But the guy Rivers has found the most is Keenan Allen, who has caught 33 passes already. The key might be rookie Melvin Gordon, who helps this team strike a nice balance.
BetAnySports patrons should be advised that Pittsburgh will be going with a new field goal kicker in this game. Josh Scobee missed two field goals that would have made the difference in the loss to Baltimore, so he is out and Chris Boswell, who has not yet kicked in an NFL regular-season game, is in. Pittsburgh hopes it can put a lot of pressure on Rivers; the Steelers have 14 sacks on the season, and Rivers has himself been sacked a dozen times.
But a lot of this story line comes back to Vick, and how much he may be able to improvise against the Chargers, who have only five sacks and four games and have yielded 66% completions. Since both defensive units are somewhat suspect, a lot of people are looking for a high-scoring game. Certainly neither team lacks weaponry, and they should be stronger with the new additions.
