Seahawks Giants Odds – 2017 Week 7 NFL Betting Preview

Seattle lost road games at Green Bay and Tennessee, but they came back to wallop the Indianapolis Colts (46-18) and then defeated the Los Angeles Rams two weeks ago, holding them to just ten points. But it looks like they’ve got some injury problems on defense; Cliff Avril, the standout defensive end, may not play for the rest of the season with a neck injury, and Michael Bennett is nursing a foot ailment. What is uncharacteristic about Seattle is that they have given up 4.9 yards per rush, and the Giants appeared to have gotten something going on the ground last week against the Denver Broncos.

Seattle comes into this game with a record of 3-2, and they are 2-3 against the NFL pointspread. The Giants, who defeated Denver 23-10 last week, are now 1-5 straight-up and 3-3 against the points.

Yes, the Giants, who have gotten very little out of their ground attack this season, ramble for 148 yards against the Broncos, and they needed that, because Eli Manning only passed for 118 yards. Could they get that kind of feast again? That might be a lot to ask, particularly because these Seahawks defenders are experienced and know how to exploit weaknesses in the opposition. For example, Manning is going to have a hard time getting the ball down the field without Odell Beckham in the lineup, and tight end Evan Engram, who has the opportunity to emerge as a star in his rookie season (24 catches, 282 yards) doesn’t necessarily match up well with All-Pro safety Kam Chancellor. Maybe, just maybe, Manning can count on some additional time to throw, because Seattle does appear thin in the pass rush.

When we talk about ground games, Seattle was supposed to have one at the start of the season, but VietBet patrons know it hasn’t really turned out that way, especially after losing surprising rookie running back Chris Carson to an injury. He was the team’s leading rusher, and Russell Wilson was next. Eddie Lacy, a key off-season acquisition, and Thomas Rawls, who has played well when healthy, have combined for 98 yards.

So what is that going to do to Wilson, who was doing okay but not necessarily going downfield the way he would like to? He still hasn’t really developed a great deal of chemistry with Jimmy Graham, who has averaged only 8.5 yards per catch, a far cry from what he used to do in New Orleans. And we say that despite his scoring a touchdown against the Rams a couple of weeks ago.

Seattle is probably going to be tough against the pass, no matter what. They allowed opponents only 5.7 yards per attempt, and so Manning will be relegated to a dink-and-dunk, which makes it all the more difficult to get down the field. Let’s look “under” in this matchup, as regardless of which side wins, they’ll probably have to do it with defense.
