The New Orleans Saints host the San Francisco 49ers November 9th

The San Francisco 49ers take on the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in Louisiana this Sunday, November 9th in one of the NFL’s better week 10 matchups. The Saints are back on the right track after struggling earlier in the season and have now won two in a row after beating the Carolina Panthers 28-10 last week. San Francisco appears to be going in the opposite direction as they’ve lost two straight after dropping a 13-10 decision to the St. Louis Rams last weekend, but both teams ether the game with 4-4 records.

San Francisco QB Colin Kaepernick fumbled the ball at the goal line late in the game last week and that was all she wrote as the 49ers were edged 13-10 by the Rams. If they plan on ending their losing skid they will need their offensive line to offer better protection to Kaepernick as he was sacked a career-worst eight times by St. Louis. The 26-year-old was also dropped half a dozen times the week before by the Broncos. To add insult to injury the Rams entered the game with a league-low six sacks on the season. San Francisco has managed to score just 13.5 points per game on average in their last two outings.
They have a tough defensive job ahead of them too since New Orleans is the league’s fifth-highest scoring team at 28.4 points per contest. They’re even tougher to handle at home as they average 33.6 points a game. The 49ers are a good defensive squad though as they concede 291.9 total yards against per game, which is the second-best ranking in the league. When it comes to road games, San Francisco has gone 2-2 ATS this year.

New Orleans beat the Panthers 28-10 last Thursday as QB Drew Brees went 24 for 34 in passing for a TD and 297 yards. Running back Mark Ingram was hot as he scored a pair of TDS and ran for 100 yards. Ingram now has an average of 136 yards on the ground in the last two games. He had 30 carries against Carolina, which represents the fourth-most in the NFL so far this season. He’s also the first Saint to achieve that mark since 2004 when Deuce McAllister pulled it off.
Ingram has a tough task in front of him though as the 49ers defensive line ranks number five in the league for the rush defense by allowing 85.6 yards against per contest, but New Orleans averages 436.5 total yards for per game, which is the second-highest in the league. In addition, New Orleans are on an 11-game winning streak at home with their last defeat at the Superdome coming in December of 2012.
