The Washington Redskins make the short trip to Philadelphia this weekend to take on the Eagles in another rare Saturday night showdown at Lincoln Financial Field on December 26. This big NFC East clash takes place with both teams still in the playoff hunt. Washington is coming off of a 35-25 home win over Buffalo last weekend and leads their division at 7-7. The Eagles are right behind them in a second-place tie with the New York Giants at 6-8. Philadelphia, but dropped a 40-17 decision at home to the Arizona Cardinals in last week’s action.

The Redskins have won their past two games and sit one game above the Eagles and Giants with just two contests to go. Quarterback Kirk Cousins led the way against the Bills with four touchdown passes and 319 yards by going 22 for 28 in passing. He had an excellent 112.4 passer rating for the game and got some help from DeSean Jackson as he caught six of the tosses for a touchdown and 153 yards. Washington should be heading into this showdown with some confidence as they’ve beaten the Eagles twice in a row, including a 23-20 victory earlier this season.
The Redskins will have a good chance to pull off a big road win if Cousins can come up with another good performance. He’s been picked off just once in his team’s seven victories this season, but he’s thrown 10 interceptions in his side’s seven defeats. If he’s accurate with his pass attempts at Lincoln Field then the Redskins’ chances will improve greatly. Washington enters the game with a 2-4 record against the spread on their road trips this year.
The Eagles’ postseason chances took a big blow in week 15 with their loss to the Cardinals. Philadelphia wasn’t able to handle David Johnson as he scored three touchdowns and rushed for 187 yards. The Eagles are still alive though, but this game against Washington is crucial for them if they hope to win the NFC East. Philadelphia can still capture the division of they down the Redskins this weekend and do the same to the Giants in New York in their season finale.
The Eagles turned the ball over four times against Arizona last week and they can’t afford to do that against Washington. Quarterback Sam Bradford needs a good game after throwing for 361 yards last week with a pair of touchdowns and two interceptions. The pickoffs were quite costly and the Eagles couldn’t recover from them. He’ll be facing a pretty good defense as the Redskins have allowed 23.7 points against per game this year which ranks them 17th in the league. Wide receiver Jordan Matthews needs to keep up his hot hand as he had eight receptions last week for a touchdown and 159 yards in total. He’ll be up against a Redskins’ secondary which has given up 22 touchdowns in the air this campaign, which is the 12th-most in the league. Philadelphia is 3-4 against the spread at Lincoln Financial Field this season.
