Patriots vs Saints Odds – A Closer Look at the New England Patriots:

The wheels fell off the bus for the Patriots last week when the Super Bowl champs were upset 42-27 at home by Kansas. Tom Brady was nowhere near his best as he gained 267 yards by completing just 16 of his 36 pass attempts for a completion rate of 44 per cent, which was the lowest in the league last week. He didn’t receive much help though as the offensive line also had a rough day at work and the defense was less than mediocre. The New England front was unable to get anything going and was burned on the ground. Losing linebacker Dont’a Hightower because of a knee injury certainly didn’t help and his status right now remains unclear.

But while New England struggled on each side of the ball last week by blowing a 17-7 lead and giving up 21 straight points, it was still just one game and the season-opener at that. With a more than a week to get the ship back on course, head coach Bill Belichick won’t be panicking just yet. The Patriots faced a tough Kansas City defense last week, but they’ll be up against a weak New Orleans pass secondary this Sunday. This may be just the answer Belichick is looking for as he hopes to kick start the offense and tighten up the defense.

Patriots vs Saints Odds – A Closer Look at the New Orleans Saints:

The Saints didn’t fare too well last week when Adrian Peterson returned to Minnesota as the squad struggled offensively and also had some defensive problems. The outcome was a 29-19 loss at the hands of the home team in front a a national audience on Monday Night Football. Peterson finished the game with just 18 yards of rushing to his name as New Orleans couldn’t produce much at all on the ground. The offensive line was patched up and the Saints ended up carrying the ball just 21 times for a total of 60 yards.

Quarterback Drew Brees attempted to keep his teammates in the contest the Vikings, but he was also lacking the ability to spark the squad. This may have something to do with the fact that one of his favorite receivers Brandin Cooks was on the shelf. The good news is Cooks is expected to be in the lineup this weekend against New England. But while Brees should get better along with the rest of the offense, it’s not as likely that the Saints’ unsteady defense will play any better against the Patriots and that could be a problem against the Super Bowl champs.
