The Patriots are on the road for the second straight week as they pay a visit to New Era Field in Buffalo, New York to take on the Bills in a big AFC East Division showdown on Sunday, October 30th. They’ll be looking to avenge a 16-0 shutout by Buffalo in week 4 at Gillette Stadium, which has been their only defeat of the season. It also came when quarterback Tom Brady was sitting out his suspension. The Bills’ four-game winning streak came to an end last week when they were downed 28-25 in Miami by the Dolphins and they’re second in the division at 4-3. New England dropped the Steelers 27-16 on the road at Heinz Field last week and top the division with their 6-1 record.

New England Patriots – A Closer Look:
New England has lost just once this season and that was to Buffalo when Tom Brady was still suspended. They beat Pittsburgh 27-16 last week while the Steelers were without injured quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The Patriots are unbeaten with Brady at the helm at 3-0 both straight up and ATS and have won each of those games by 16 points on average. Brady went 19 for 26 in passing last week for 222 yards and added a couple of touchdown tosses. This was below par for him since Brady averaged three touchdown passes and over 380 yards in his first two outings of the campaign. LeGarrette Blount led the way with a pair of touchdowns on the ground along with 127 rushing yards last week.
The Patriots starting quarterback against Buffalo in week 4 was rookie Jacoby Brissett and he wasn’t 100 per cent healthy. New England has scored at least 30 points in five of their past six road trips to Buffalo, which includes a 40-32 triumph last season. Brady totaled 466 yards in that outing along with three touchdowns passes in that game. The Patriots defense will need to be sharp though since Buffalo is second in the league when it comes to rushing with an average of 152 yards a week. However, LeSean McCoy is questionable for the game. New England is 14-2 in Buffalo since 2000 when Bill Belichick became head coach and are 11-4-1 ATS over that stretch.
Buffalo Bills – A Closer Look:
The Bills’ lost for the first time in their past five games last week with a sub-par performance in Miami. To make matters worse, running back LeSean McCoy didn’t see much action due to a hamstring problem. He carried the ball just eight times for a total of 11 yards. McCoy had averaged 145 yards in each of the previous two contests. The Bills’ offense suffered along with McCoy with just 267 total yards while the defense conceded 454 yards to the Dolphins. There’s a chance McCoy won’t even dress against the Patriots on Sunday.
If he doesn’t play, there will be a lot of pressure on quarterback Tyrod Taylor as he doesn’t have many consistent targets to pass to at the moment. Robert Woods sat out the game in Miami with an injured foot and he’s also a question mark for Sunday. Woods and McCoy combined for 197 of Buffalo’s 378 total in their victory over New England a few weeks ago. Buffalo’s defense will need to be at its best to take care of New England’s potent offense. It had been playing well during the four-game winning streak, but allowed 256 yards to Miami. The best quarterback the Bills have faced this year has been Arizona’s Carson Palmer, so they’ll be stepping up in class when meeting Brady.
