Michigan State Licking Chops For Rematch with Oregon

The Michigan State Spartans thought they may have had a victory in hand last season when they took on the Oregon Ducks; after all, they held a nine-point lead and also one of the top defenses in all of college football. But they quickly found out that the Ducks were fully capable of trumping that – very quickly.
Now circumstances are at least somewhat different, as the Spartans get Oregon at home and don’t have to face off against a Heisman Trophy winner. They will clash with Oregon at Spartan Stadium in East Lansing, with the kickoff scheduled for 8 PM ET. This year it is Michigan State that has the hot NFL prospect behind center. Connor Cook is considered to be one of the top quarterbacks in the nation according to NFL scouts. What has to be a big concern for the Ducks is that they allowed 549 total yards (including 438 through the air) to Eastern Washington. Obviously with Cook more mature, the Spartans are perceived to be a better team offensively. Well, maybe that is the case, but they suffered a big loss with the departure of Jeremy Langford, who ran for 1522 yards last season.
The Spartans no doubt depend on their veteran offensive line, which yielded only eleven sacks in 2014, and the kind of discipline that coach Mark Dantonio has instilled, which has given this team a +32 turnover ratio over the last couple of seasons.
