The secondary struggled against the Steelers as QB Ben Roethlisberger gained 314 yards and passed for three touchdowns. This should give QB Drew Brees and the rest of the Saints some confidence.

Detroit went to 3-1 after beating the New York Jets 24-17 on the weekend while Buffalo went to 2-2 after dropping a 23-17 decision to Houston. The Lions shut the Bills out 23-0 in a preseason game in August. Buffalo quarterback EJ Manuel has seen his pass-completion percentage fall each passing week. It was 72.7 per cent in week one against Chicago and he dropped to 47.7 per cent against Houston. The Lions have won both home games by more than 10 points.

• Match up Summary:  The Ravens moved to 3-1 with a 38-10 win over Carolina last week for their third win in a row. The injury-riddled Colts won their second straight to go to 2-2 with a 44-17 win over Tennessee. It’s not easy to bet against Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck as he’s on a roll, but Baltimore has a fine offense. Luck has thrown for 13 touchdowns and 912 yards so far this season and is connecting on 68 per cent of his passes. Baltimore gained 127 yards on the ground against Carolina and added 327 more in the air. Their defense is also in a groove, so the Ravens may run out of luck this week.

• Match up Summary: The Steelers dropped to 2-2 when they were beaten 27-24 by Tampa Bay on the weekend. The winless Jaguars dropped their fourth straight when they were beaten 33-24 by San Diego. Jacksonville has lost all four games by an average of 24 points so far. However, Tampa was almost as bad when they arrived in Pittsburgh in week four. Tampa covered the spread and won their first game of the season, so the Steelers shouldn’t take anything for granted here. Jaguars QB Blake Bortles completed 78 per cent of his passes last week and had 253 yards.

The 49ers handled the Eagles their first loss on the weekend by a score of 26-21 after losing their previous two. Kansas City handled the Patriots 41-14 on Monday Night Football and have now won two in a row. The Chiefs’ Jamaal Charles and Alex Smith had their way against New England, but should face a tougher test from the 49ers. San Francisco is a good rushing team and can also defend the run well, which is what they’ll need to do against the Kansas offense.
