NFL Matchups – Peyton Manning vs Geno Smith: a QB Mismatch? That’s Part of Sunday’s NFL Schedule

by Charles Jay

Denver Broncos (-9) vs New York Jets (+9)

To the New York Jets, the nightmares continue. We don’t want to sit here and insult BetAnySports patrons by telling them that they are in one of the more “fabulous” match ups this weekend, but they are in one that is going to get an awful lot of attention. That is because Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos are coming to the Meadowlands to face off against the Jets in a 1 PM ET start on Sunday afternoon. Oh, and because Geno Smith has been making a mess of his second season in the NFL. After New York’s 31-0 defeat at the hands of the San Diego Chargers last weekend, it was revealed that Smith missed the team meeting the night before the game, as he seemingly couldn’t reconcile the three-hour time difference between the East and West coasts. He was then benched at halftime, and replaced by Michael Vick, who completed eight of his 19 passes in what was a horrific display of football. Smith will be under center again this week, and Manning comes off of 479-yard performance against Arizona. Denver is a nine-point favorite in the NFL betting odds at BetAnySports.

Pittsburgh Steelers (+1.5) vs Cleveland Browns (-1.5)

We’ve got rematches already in week six, and when the Pittsburgh Steelers visit the Cleveland Browns, they will be running back a game that was an absolute thriller from the opening week. Pittsburgh got off to a 27-3 advantage, then let the Browns come all the way back to tie the game, before kicking a field goal in the final seconds to win it. Of course, it’s a pretty good bet that all of the contests Cleveland are going to be involved in be thrillers; last week against the Tennessee Titans they orchestrated the largest comeback in NFL history for road team, as they roared back from 25 points down to beat Tennessee 29-28. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has won 19 of his 21 starts against the Browns, although Cleveland is favored by 1.5 points in the NFL betting odds at BetAnySports (1 PM ET).

New England Patriots (-3.0) vs Buffalo Bills (+3.0)

Well, the New England Patriots are not dead after all. In fact, they came up with an uncommonly strong effort against the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday night, and this week (1 PM ET) they will be three-point favorites over the Buffalo Bills, who were able to beat the Detroit Lions last weekend, as they managed six sacks of Matthew Stafford and benefited from three missed field goals on the part of the Lions. Tom Brady’s lifetime record against the Bills is 22-2 straight-up, and that is certainly something that BetAnySports customers are going to take into consideration.

Chicago Bears (+3.0) vs Atlanta Falcons (-3.0)

The Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons will be engaging in what many NFL betting observers feel is going to be a shootout. Last week Atlanta lost its tenth road game in 11 tries against the New York Giants, but they have really ramped up the offense at home, gaining 1066 yards in their two outings in the Georgia Dome. Chicago has failed miserably in the second half in each of the last two games, and blew a 14-point lead last week against the Carolina Panthers. Atlanta will be a three-point favorite at BetAnySports in this game.

Dallas Cowboys (+8.0) vs Seattle Seahawks (-8.0)

The Seattle Seahawks, who covered the pointspread but did not look all that dominant against the Washington Redskins on Monday night, will play host to a team that is suddenly one of the hottest in the NFL. The Dallas Cowboys are now tied for the best record in the league, at 4-1, and they are doing it largely on balance, as DeMarco Murray has emerged as the best running back in the NFL this year, with 670 yards. Seattle does a pretty good job of stopping opposition ground games, allowing just 2.6 yards per carry, so that will make things difficult for the Dallas infantry. By the way, Russell Wilson has a pointspread mark of 15-4-1 at home for the Seahawks, who are an eight-point favorite in NFL betting at BetAnySports, where you can place wagers and all the games this weekend while they are happening through the magic of Live Betting Extra!
