The famous Anfield Stadium in Liverpool, England will be hosting the second match of the two-legged Europa League quarterfinal showdown between Liverpool and Dortmund this Thursday, April 14th. Liverpool has played 35 matches against German clubs with 16 wins, 13 draws and six losses. They have 12 wins, three draws and no losses at home. They have also won two, drawn one and lost one against German opponents at neutral stadiums. Dortmund is unbeaten in five Europa League games in this year’s knockout stage with four wins and a draw and has allowed just two goals against in them. They also have five wins, a draw and a loss on the road.
Overall, Dortmund has seven wins in their 11 Europa League fixtures this year while Liverpool has four wins and seven draws with three wins and three draws at home to remain as the only undefeated team in the tournament. Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the second leading scorer in the competition with seven goals. Thomas Tuchel took over as manager of Dortmund when the 48-year-old Klopp left for Liverpool last October and the 42-year-old is hoping to lead Dortmund its first Europa League trophy.
Liverpool will advance to the semifinals with a 0-0 draw or a win. Dortmund will advance with a win or any draw by a 2-2 score or higher due to the away goals rule.
