One thing that was quite a relief is that Ryan Fitzpatrick was not intercepted last week. But the Jets put together only 316 yards on offense in a 31-13 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers. On the season, Fitzpatrick has five touchdown passes and has been picked off 10 times. Even worse news came this week as it was announced that Eric Decker, who by all accounts is his top receiver, will undergo surgery for a torn rotator cuff and will be out for the rest of the campaign. Decker had been averaging 21.6 yards per reception, and he was particularly useful in the red zone.

The Cardinals beat the San Francisco 49ers 33-21 in a Thursday night game last time out, as Drew Stanton had to fill in for Carson Palmer, who was sitting out with concussion symptoms. Stanton completed only eleven out of his 28 passes, so the Cardinals will certainly welcome Palmer back into the lineup.

The absence of Decker will put some more pressure on Quincy Enunwa, who has actually emerged as a pretty good target for Fitzpatrick’s passes. He’s got 27 receptions, and now fill have to threaten the secondary enough to, in turn, take pressure away from Brandon Marshall, the leading receiver available. The Jets also have to be a little bit concerned that Matt Forte has slowed down in terms of his production. He is averaging only 3.7 yards per carry, and he has only 13 catches. Forte had for years developed a reputation as perhaps the NFL’s top rushing-receiving threat while with the Chicago Bears.

Defense is, of course, something that has to figure into the handicapping formula here, and VietBet patrons know that the Jets have a pretty stout defensive line that will come right at Palmer. The architect of this defense, essentially, is also the guy who built the defensive scheme Arizona uses. Bowles was the defensive coordinator in Arizona before taking the head job with the Jets, and he and Bruce Arians go way back. So there are no secrets when it comes right down to it, although this is the first time they have met as opposing head coaches.

And speaking of defense, the Jets are expecting that cornerback Darrelle Revis will be in action, after he had to sit out last week’s game with a hamstring injury. His assignment, more than likely, will be Larry Fitzgerald, who has caught 31 passes so far. Fantasy football owners have been happy with running back David Johnson, who has run for 457 yards and caught passes for 238 more. He is, if you will, the heir apparent to Forte perhaps as the NFL’s most formidable dual threat coming out of the backfield.
