Jaguars vs Titans Odds - 2017 Week 17 NFL Betting Preview

Titans Can Punch Wild Card Ticket vs. Jags

The Tennessee Titans currently are in a situation where they can actually control her own destiny. If they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, they will get into the AFC playoffs as a wild-card entry. With their mission pretty simple, things are also complicated at the same time, because it will be without their top running back, who they hope would be ready for any playoff game.

This one will kick off at 4:25 PM ET at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, and while CBS is televising it on a regional basis, VietBet customers can place wagers in real time using the facilities of Live Betting Ultra.

Jaguars vs Titans Odds – NFL Betting Preview

Jacksonville has already captured the AFC South title with a 10-5 record (9-6 ATS), but they are coming off a rather disappointing performance against the San Francisco 49ers, where Blake Bortles was intercepted three times. So maybe there is some motivation on their part to re-establish some momentum. Indeed, head coach Doug Marone has said “We are going to do everything possible to win this game, period.”

These clubs met earlier in the season, and Tennessee ran all over the Jags, with 179 yards on the ground in a 37-16 victory. So maybe there is a little payback motivation as well.

Jacksonville has the best defense in the National Football League, or at least that’s what it says in many of the statistical categories. But they were ashamed at the way they played on Sunday, as they became the latest victim of Jimmy Garoppolo and the surge by the Niners. AJ Bouye, who has firmly established himself as one of the best corners in football, said his team was “humbled” by the performance, and the shame of it is that it ruined the decent offensive effort for the Jags, who had 32 first downs.

One thing is certain – they do not want to send Bortles out there to throw 50 passes in a game, as he did last Sunday. This is a team that is about half-and-half as far as passing and running is concerned, and that’s the way they want to keep it.

Tennessee wants a ground-based attack as well, but that was predicated on having two very capable backs at the same time. Now they will have to go with former Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry almost exclusively. Not that that is such a horrible way to go; Henry has averaged 4.8 yards per carry this season. But the Titans will not want to leave too much in the hands of Marcus Mariota, their other Heisman Trophy winner, because he has more interceptions (14) then he has touchdown passes (12).

So we have a situation where one team not only has the division very well in hand but also is locked into the #3 playoff seed in the AFC. Still, we’ll go with the Jags in this situation, because Tennessee, with three straight losses, has somehow not managed to capitalize on the opportunities they’ve had before them.
