New York Giants – A Closer Look:

The Giants six straight wins makes them one of the hottest teams in the league at the moment with their latest being 27-13 triumph in Cleveland. If they can keep it up there’s a good chance they’ll make their first playoff appearance since 2011. Quarterback Eli Manning threw for three touchdowns and 194 yards by going 15 for 27 with six passes finding Odell Beckham Jr. Wide receiver Beckham finished the game with a pair of touchdowns and half a dozen catches for 96 yards. When it came to the ground attack, Paul Perkins and Rashad Jennings could combine for only 84 yards while averaging only 3.5 yards per run.

The Giant’s defense pulled its weight on Sunday by sacking Cleveland quarterback Josh McCown a total of seven times. They also recovered a trio of forced fumbles. Jason Pierre-Paul returned one of them 43 yards for a touchdown and was also credited with three sacks. The Giants’ have been weak when it comes to fumble recoveries this season though with just one to their credit before meeting the Browns. Still the defense should have some confidence and momentum for the game in Pittsburgh. New York’s record against the Steelers is 2-2 and 3-1 ATS since 2000.

Pittsburgh Steelers – A Closer Look:

Pittsburgh had some luck on its side last week as Indianapolis didn’t since the Colts’ starting quarterback Andrew Luck was sidelined with a concussion. The Steelers took advantage of the break and won 28-7. It was Pittsburgh’s first Thanksgiving Day victory in their past five attempts. It was also the club’s second consecutive win after going through a four-game losing streak. Their best players were their best players against the Colts as Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown led the attack. Big Ben passed for three touchdowns and 221 yards as he went 14 for 20 in passing. Wide receiver Brown caught five of his passes for 91 yards and scored all three of the quarterback’s touchdown tosses.

As for Bell, he chipped in with 23 carries for 120 yards and added a rushing touchdown. The Pittsburgh defense intercepted Colts’ quarterback Scott Tolzien on two occasions and sacked him on three others. Both the Steelers’ and Giants’ defenses concede about 20 points per game this season. Roethlisberger has been playing well at home with 15 touchdowns and just a pair of interceptions to accompany a 123.8 quarterback rating. However, his side has dropped two in a row at Heinz Field against Dallas and New England. Overall, they’re 5-3-1 ATS and 7-2 in their past nine contests though.

Next up for both teams:

  • The Giants are at home to the Cowboys on Sunday, December 11
  • Pittsburgh visits the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, December 11
