After the New York Giants’ latest failure in the fourth quarter, the media around the Big Apple already has coach Tom Coughlin practically fired, and they are speculating on who his replacement is going to be. Maybe that is premature, but there is no question about the fact that the Giants, with a 5-7 record, have underachieved. However, they remain in a tie for first place in the NFC East, so there is a lot of importance attached to Monday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins, which will get underway at 8:30 PM ET from Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, FL. ESPN will televise the game live, and BetAnySports customers can watch it and place wagers in real-time against the football betting odds when they select the option of Live Betting Extra.

The Giants blew a fourth-quarter lead for the fifth time this season against the New York Jets and lost the game in overtime. They went into that game in a little better shape than they have been lately on the offensive line, but Ereck Flowers, the left tackle, suffered a sprained ankle. Without Darrelle Revis shadowing him, Odell Beckham had 149 receiving yards, and certainly the Dolphins don’t have a shutdown cornerback who can really deal with him successfully.

The Dolphins have gone 4-4 under interim coach Dan Campbell, who has tried to promote a more physical style of play. Last weekend they won “ugly,” as they beat the Baltimore Ravens 15-13 at home. They have been experiencing some success on the ground of late, with Lamar Miller chalking up 113 yards, and the Dolphins have averaged a robust 4.7 yards per carry.

There are a lot of people who believe that in the weak NFC East, the Giants should have a healthy lead by now. Indeed, they have played better than their record. And a 7-5 ATS ledger would seem to bear that out. But make no mistake about it; there are glaring weaknesses on this team. For one thing, they have struggled all season running the football. Last Sunday they had only 74 yards in 24 attempts, and they very rarely get pressure on the passer. In fact, their sack rate (which represents their sacks relative to the opponents number of pass attempts) is tied for the lowest in the league, at 2.98%. And they have allowed 45% conversions on third-down. That could be an important factor here, because the way that Miami is running the ball, they might be in a number of favorable down-and-distance situations.

BetAnySports patrons have seen the Dolphins not only fire the head coach, but both coordinators this year. The new offensive coordinator, Zac Taylor, worked with quarterback Ryan Tannehill going back to his days at Texas A&M. The idea is to give Tannehill a little more freedom when it comes to changing plays at the line of scrimmage, but that did not bear fruit last week, as Tannehill passed for only 86 yards and looked unsteady. This offense, despite the nice rushing average, has had a difficult time lately; since the first two games under Campbell, in which the Dolphins looked like a speeding locomotive, they have averaged only 15.6 points over six games.
