On the bright side, Liverpool is two points ahead of fifth-place Arsenal and three in front of sixth-place Manchester United, but both of those teams have a game in hand.
Liverpool has 52 points on the season from 15 wins, seven draws and five defeats with a league-best 58 goals for and 34 against. They’ve won just three of their past 13 contests in all competitions though along with six defeats and four draws. However, they’ve lost only seven of their past 31 outings in all competitions. Liverpool has nine wins, three draws and one loss at home this season with 34 goals scored and 12 allowed.
In their past 10 league contests, Liverpool has four wins, three draws and three losses with 17 goals scored and 14 allowed. Manager Jurgen Klopp has a several injury problems to deal with as defender Dejan Lovren, midfielder Jordan Henderson and forever-injured striker Daniel Sturridge are all questionable. In addition, goalkeeper Adam Bogdan and striker Danny Ings are sidelined for the remainder of the season while midfielder Marko Grujic is day to day.
Burnley – A Closer Look:
Burnley enters the contest in 12th place in the 20-team Premier League with just 31 out of a possible 81 points. They have nine wins along with four draws and 14 defeats with 30 goals for and 40 against. They have a seemingly comfortable nine-point lead over 18th-place Middlesbrough and the relegation zone, but that could quickly disappear unless the team pulls up its socks.
Burnley has four wins, two draws and four losses in their last 10 league games with 14 goals scored and 12 allowed. They’re currently the worst away team in the league as they’re winless with just two draws and 11 defeats. They’ve managed to score just eight goals on their travels while conceding 28. Burnley has dropped six of their past seven away contests by a 2-1 score.
There are also several injury concerns for Burnley as midfielders Johann Gudmundsson and Steven Defour are both questionable while midfielder Dean Marney is expected to miss the rest of the campaign. In addition, midfielder Joey Barton could also possibly miss the remainder of the season. On the bright side, forward Ashley Barnes returns from suspension.
