The Philadelphia Eagles may have hit a speed bump last week, as they suffered their first defeat in four games. But those kinds of things are going to happen in the NFL, and by and large, this Eagles squad has really responded in the first year under head coach Doug Pederson. On Sunday they will try to rebound, but they have to go on the road again, and in a division game, as they face off against the Washington Redskins. This is scheduled for 1 PM ET at FedEx Field in Landover, and VietBet customers have the opportunity to watch the game live on Fox Network and place wagers on it as it is happening, using the state-of-the-art software available through Live Betting Ultra.

The Eagles were nothing but impressive over their first three games, and especially so against the Pittsburgh Steelers in their third straight victory, a 34-3 drubbing. The defense was the best in the National Football League, under the tutelage of Jim Schwartz, who is known as a legitimate “guru” of the trade. Schwartz’s unit went up to Detroit last weekend to play the Lions, who happened to have fired Schwartz as head coach following the 2013 season. And against the Matthew Stafford-led offense, they only allowed 244 yards. But penalties did this team in, as they were flagged 14 times. Detroit took advantage of the opportunities before them and got off to a 14-0 first-quarter lead, but the Eagles came roaring back to take a 23-21 edge deep into the fourth quarter, before allowing the Lions to kick the game-winning field goal with less than two minutes to go. That’s how close they are to still being unbeaten.
Carson Wentz, the rookie quarterback out of North Dakota State, threw his first interception in the NFL toward the end. But there is no doubt that Wentz is not only the quarterback of the future in the City of Brotherly Love, he is the man of the moment as well.
The Redskins stumbled at the beginning, losing their first two outings, but have now won three games in a row. The last one was hard-earned, and came despite the fact that they scored only one touchdown on offense. Kirk Cousins threw the ball 41 times, but a produced only one TD drive, with the other touchdown coming on a punt return. The running game remains a concern, with regard to consistency. Matt Jones had only 31 yards on 14 carries, and the Redskins threw the ball two-thirds of the time. It’s a good thing they encountered a sputtering Baltimore offensive attack, or they could have been in a lot of trouble.
One of the things the Eagles do that is so impressive is that they hold onto the football and chew up the clock. In fact, as VietBet patrons check the NFL stats, they will see that Philadelphia leads the NFL in time of possession, with a gap of more than one minute per game over the next team on the list. Under Pederson, who is a proponent of the West Coast offense, Philadelphia has been a more deliberate team as far as getting the ball snapped. If you will, they are the “slowest” team in the league, when you look at the time that ticks off between plays.
But they have to improve in terms of down-and-distance situations. The Eagles are well down the list in third-down conversion percentage, with a 33% success rate. Washington has had its share of injuries in the secondary, including DeAngelo Hall, who tore an ACL and is out for the year. But they were able to deal with Joe Flacco of the Ravens pretty well last week, holding him to just 210 passing yards despite 46 attempts. Does the rookie have something up his sleeve, or will opposing defensive coordinators be prepared for him, now that they have more and more “tape”?
