Eagles Seek Flight with Demarco Murray and Sam Bradford
By Charles Jay
The Philadelphia Eagles did not make the playoffs last season, and Chip Kelly was not the least bit amused by it. So he undertook to make a few changes, which he was finally able to do because he lobbied for, and received, authority from ownership to take charge of his personnel. So he’s “all in,” so to speak, and he’s got some good people in the foxhole with him. The Eagles begin the 2015 season against the Atlanta Falcons, who are looking for a fresh start under new head coach Dan Quinn. Kickoff is 7:10 PM ET at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, and BetAnySports customers can use Live Betting Extra to engage in Monday night betting while the action is happening. It’s quite a thrill!

By far the biggest acquisition for the Eagles was DeMarco Murray, who rambled for 1845 yards last season, a league-leading total for the Dallas Cowboys. Kelly hopes that trumps the departure of LeSean McCoy, who was traded to the Buffalo Bills in a deal that brought linebacker Kiko Alonso.
The Falcons were a soft team last year, ranking dead last in the league in total defense. But what is interesting is that they ranked sixth in takeaways, and that is something Quinn hopes to expand upon in making this stop unit more effective. He comes with some background, having been the coordinator of the “Legion of Doom” defense of the Seattle Seahawks.
McCoy reportedly was not a fan of Kelly’s training regimen, which is a bit different than other NFL coaches. But the Eagles like to think they have upgraded with Murray, who made life a whole lot easier for Tony Romo in Dallas. What can he do for Sam Bradford, who Kelly dealt for in the off-season in exchange for Nick Foles, who went to the Rams. Bradford has had knee injuries the last two years, and from that standpoint he is a risk. But Kelly, who famously runs an up-tempo offense, likes the fact that Bradford worked with a quick pace when he was the Heisman Trophy winner at Oklahoma. And in his limited action in the pre-season, he connected on 13 of his 15 attempts.
BetAnySports customers don’t cast much doubt about what Atlanta can do through the air; Matt Ryan had 4694 yards and 28 TD passes last season, and they don’t get much better than Julio Jones (104 receptions, 1593 yards) on the flank. But the running game was substandard; the Falcons were 24th in the NFL in rushing yards. They drafted Tevin Coleman out of Indiana in the third round, and he has earned the starting job over Devonta Freeman. Balance is going to be essential for Atlanta, but of course, so is a little defense, and they are most certainly hoping to step up the pass rush with the likes of Vic Beasley, the eighth overall draft pick (out of Clemson). Reportedly there was a lot more intensity and enthusiasm under Quinn in the pre-season, as he is promoting much more in the way of aggressiveness..
