San Diego Chargers – A Closer Look:

San Diego is on a bit of a roll with two straight wins after downing Atlanta 33-30 in overtime. Josh Lambo booted the game-winning field goal from 42 yards out for their first win away from home this season. Quarterback Philip Rivers had a fine game by passing for 371 yards by going 27 for 44. He had a touchdown pass and was intercepted once. Rivers averages 288.3 yards in the air this campaign to rank sixth in the league in that department. Melvin Gordon chipped in with 68 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The San Diego defense will need to be solid since Denver is scoring an average of 23.9 points per contest so far this season, which is ranked 13th-most in the league. The Chargers have done well against the spread on their last 10 road trips by going 9-1 in that stretch. As mentioned, they’ve won just once on the road this season. But in the bright side, they’re 5-5 straight up in their last 10 outings in Denver with the Broncos going just 2-7-1 ATS in those meetings.

Denver Broncos – A Closer Look:

The Denver Broncos managed to halt their losing skid at two games with last week’s 27-9 home victory over Houston on Monday Night football. The Broncos are now 3-1 at Mile High this season and the win saw them climb into a first place tie in the division with Oakland. Running backs Devontae Booker and C.J. Anderson teamed up for a pair of touchdowns and a 200 yards in the game. The defensive unit also chipped in with one of its most effective games of the 2016/17 campaign.

They managed to control former Broncos’ quarterback Brock Osweiler as he racked up only 131 yards in the air. The Denver defense is ranked third-best in the league by allowing an average of only 291.6 yards against per contest. They’ll be facing a good quarterback in the Chargers’ Philip Rivers though as Rivers is ranked sixth-best in the league with his 13 touchdown passes so far this year. Denver hasn’t really fared to well at home against San Diego recently at 5-5, so this should be a pretty competitive game.

Next up for both teams:

  • San Diego home to Tennessee Sunday, November 6
  • Denver at Oakland Sunday, November 6
