Juventus – A Closer Look:
Juventus took the top spot in Group H in this season’s Champions League group stage with 14 points from four wins and two draws. They scored 11 goals and allowed only two against. There’s a good chance they’ll be crowned Italian Serie A champions again this season as they entered last weekend’s domestic matches with a six-point edge on second-place AS Roma. Juventus topped their table last week with 25 wins, two draws and four defeats for 77 points with 62 goals scored and a league-low 20 conceded.
Juventus has won the European title twice before and was undefeated away from home in the group stage with three wins. The Serie A champions have now made it to the quarterfinals of the Champions League 10 times overall. However, they’ve reached the semifinals just two times in their past six tries. German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich knocked them out in the round of 16 last year 6-2 on aggregate in extra time after the clubs drew 2-2 in Italy. Juventus has gone 11-5 in their previous 16 quarterfinal appearances in European competitions.
Juventus has squared off against Spanish teams a total of 52 times in the past and has a record of 19 wins, 20 defeats, and 13 draws. They’ve scored 61 goals in those games and have allowed 55 against. Juventus hasn’t fared too well on their trips to Spain so far. They’ve managed to win just four matches in Spain to go along with 14 losses and five draws. They’ve also met Spanish teams five times on neutral grounds with just one victory and four losses.

Champions League Odds – Quarterfinals – Real Madrid vs Bayern Munich, April 18th, 2017
The last thing German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich wanted to do was lose to Spanish giants and reigning European champions Real Madrid at home in the first game of their two-legged Champions League quarterfinal tie. That’s the situation though as Real Madrid downed the home team 2-1 last Wednesday courtesy of two second-half goals by Cristiano Ronaldo, including his 100th in European competition. Bayern can only blame themselves as Arturo Vidal missed a penalty which would have given them a 2-0 lead and Javi Martinez was sent off after his second yellow card in the 61st minute. Real will now try to wrap up the tie when they host Bayern on Tuesday, April 18th.

Real Madrid is aiming to become the first team to successfully defend the European crown in the Champions League era and is in the hunt for their record 12th European championship.
Real Madrid has faced German opponents 65 times in the past with 30 wins, 23 losses and 12 draws. They have 22 victories, three defeats and five draws in Madrid with just five away wins along with 19 losses and seven draws. Real has also played German clubs in four cup finals on neutral grounds with three wins and a defeat. Real Madrid is playing in their 35th European quarterfinal and has gone 28-6 in their previous 34. This is the clubs seventh consecutive quarterfinal tie and they’re hoping to advance to the semifinals for the seventh straight time.
Bayern Munich – A Closer Look:
Bayern Munich did themselves no favors in the first game with the missed penalty and red card and were also missing top scorer Robert Lewandowski due to injury. They’re still the best team in Germany though as they look poised to defend the Bundesliga title and win it for the 27th time. They entered the weekend games in first place with a 10-point edge Leipzig. Bayern had 68 points after 28 games with 21 wins, five draws and two defeats with a league-high 71 goals for and a league-low 15 conceded.
Bayern has been eliminated in the semifinal stage of the last three Champions League seasons and is hoping to advance at least that far this year. They were knocked out on the controversial away-goals rule last season by Spanish club Atletico Madrid. Bayern has only four wins in their last 14 European away matches along with three draws and seven defeats. This is the 28th overall quarterfinal appearance in European competition for Bayern with an 18-9 record in the previous 27.
Bayern finished the group stage in second place in Group D with four wins and two losses for 12 points with 14 goals scored and six allowed. They struggled away from home with just one win and a pair of defeats while being outscored 5-4. The German champs have played Spanish opposition 54 times in the past with 25 wins, 16 defeats and 12 draws while scoring 81 goals and allowing 70 against. They have six victories, 14 defeats and five draws on their trips to Spain. They’ve also met Spanish teams three times on neutral grounds with two draws and a win.

- Bayern Munich still has a chance to win their sixth European Cup, but it’s not going to be easy. If they win this game 2-1 it will got to 30 minutes of extra time.
