Cardinals vs Rams Odds - 2018 Week 2 NFL Betting Preview

Cardinals vs Rams Odds and Betting Preview

Last week had to be a nightmare for the Arizona Cardinals, as they came out looking very much like a team that was not prepared to play a game of professional football. Certainly the team that came out on its own home field and got blown away at home by the Washington Redskins wouldn’t stand any chance whatsoever against the Los Angeles Rams, who were good enough to win the NFC West last season, and with the addition of some star players, might be even better this time around. This game will kick off at 4:05 PM ET at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and for those people who are signed up with VietBet, there is reduced juice for better odds before the game starts, as well as Live Betting Ultra, which offers a chance for real-time wagering once the contest is in progress.

Cardinals vs Rams Odds and Game Preview

Arizona came out like they didn’t know what hit them. But before they knew it, Alex Smith and the Washington offense had out three touchdowns on the board. Sam Bradford didn’t seem to find much a rhythm in the offense, going just 20 of 34 for 153 yards. And David Johnson, who was making his first appearance since injuring his wrist in last year’s opening game, had only 67 yards from scrimmage. When you have less than 22 minutes of possession time, you know that you have been dominated, and the cards could do nothing to compensate for it in the 24-6 loss.

The Rams got off to a slow start on Monday night, falling behind the Oakland Raiders, but they started to pick up steam and assumed control, pulling away for a 33-13 victory. Interestingly enough, they were outgained 395 to 365 by Oakland. But the impact of the Rams’ addition of Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib in the secondary was immediately felt.

Getting Peters and Talib in the same off-season was not just a “bolstering” of the secondary. It was a game-changing move. There are only so many of these “shutdown” cornerbacks around, and these guys are two of them. The residual effect was that Derek Carr was intercepted three times and completed only five passes to wide receivers. And the very direct effect was that Peters picked off Carr and took it to the house in the second half.

So what we have here is a potentially rough situation for Bradford, who does not normally push the ball too far down the field. He’s going to have to make very judicious use of Johnson coming out of the backfield, and you have to wonder whether Larry Fitzgerald, who caught seven passes last week, is going to get free for much if he has one of those cornerbacks covering him. There had been a little criticism of the hiring of Steve Wilks as Arizona’s coach, because he had only been an NFL coordinator for one season (on defense, in Carolina). But he has a veteran offensive coordinator in Mike McCoy, and you can’t say he came into this job without having some personnel at his disposal.

Sooner or later, the Cards are going to look better. But we’re not so sure this situation, going against a defending NFC West champion which was aggressive in the off-season, not only signing Peters and Talib but also Ndamukong Suh and Brandin Cooks, is the right one for them.
