The Arizona Cardinals head down to Florida this Sunday, December 11th to take on the Miami Dolphins at the Hard Rock Stadium. Miami was manhandled 38-6 in Baltimore last weekend to snap their winning streak at an impressive six games. Miami’s 7-5 record is still good enough for second spot in the AFC East Division though. The Cardinals fared better in week 13 with a 31-23 home triumph over the Washington Redskins. Arizona enters the weekend with a 5-6-1 record and sits in second spot in the NFC West.

Arizona Cardinals – A Closer Look:
David Johnson can be credited for keeping the Cardinals’ postseason chances within reach as he led the way in their 31-23 victory over Washington last week. Arizona came from behind to win the game due to Johnson’s 91 receiving yards and 84 yards on the ground. He also had a go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter and another TD earlier in the game. Johnson’s 15 touchdowns on the year are just two shy of the Cardinals’ franchise record for touchdowns in a season.
Arizona will be up against a Miami defense which conceded 386 yards in the air against Baltimore last weekend and 496 yards in total. However, the Cardinals can’t take them lightly since the Dolphins have lost just once in four home outings this campaign and has won six of their past seven contests. Cardinals’ quarterback Carson Palmer threw three touchdown passes and 300 yards against the Redskins, but has struggled on the road with eight of his total 11 pickoffs coming away from home. In addition, Arizona has dropped its last three road encounters.
Miami Dolphins – A Closer Look:
Miami was hoping to win seven games in a row for the first time since the 1985 campaign, but fell just short as they were trounced in Baltimore last Sunday. The 38-6 beating was their worst of the season and they fell behind early as Baltimore scored on their first pair of possessions and were up 24-0 by halftime. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill was picked off a season-worst three times and connected on an eight-yard pass with DeVante Parker for the team’s lone touchdown early in the fourth quarter. However, Tannehill failed on the two-point conversion.
Miami still has four games to make the postseason, but they’ll have to beat an Arizona team which has defeated them three times in a row. Miami has been pretty good at home though as they’re 3-1 both straight up and against the spread. In addition, Tannehill has performed well at the Hard Rock Stadium with just one interception at home along with five touchdown passes.
Next up for both teams:
- The Cardinals are at home to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, December 18
- The Dolphins are away to the New York Jets on Saturday, December 17
