The top two teams in the AFC West will be facing off in a huge contest this Sunday, November 6th as the Denver Broncos pay a visit to the Oakland Coliseum where they’ll take on the Raiders. This showdown will feature Oakland’s hot offense against the Broncos’ solid defense. Both teams enter week 9 with a 6-2 record. Denver took care of San Diego at home last week by a score of 27-19 while the Raiders had to go to overtime to beat Tampa 30-24 in Florida.

Denver Broncos – A Closer Look:
The Denver defense rocked again last week in their win over the Chargers by pressuring quarterback Philip Rivers as often as possible and sacking him seven times. They also picked him off on three occasions. Denver was still without cornerback Aqib Talib due to a back injury, but Bradley Roby filled in admirably with a 49-yards touchdown off of his interception. The offense wasn’t at its best though as quarterback Trevor Siemian went 20 for 38 in passing for 276 yards and was intercepted without a touchdown. In addition, receivers Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas combined for just 147 yards on nine receptions.
As for the ground attack, C.J. Anderson is now expected to be out for several weeks with a knee injury with Devontae Booker taking over for him. Booker gained 54 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries for a 2.8-yard average per carry. The rookie Booker and his teammates will be facing a Raider squad which concedes 125 rushing yards a game on average this season. Denver has lost just once in their past nine games against Denver and is 7-2 ATS over that stretch. However, the defeat came last season against Oakland quarterback Derek Carr.
Oakland Raiders – A Closer Look:
Oakland’s road record is now 5-0 after beating Tampa in overtime last week. This is a huge improvement after going a combined 4-12 away from home over the past two seasons, including 0-8 two years ago. Derek Carr completed 20 of his 59 pass attempts for a franchise and career-best 513 yards along with four touchdown passes to four different receivers. Oakland wideouts Michael Crabtree and Amari Cooper teamed up for 281 yards with Cooper chipping in with a touchdown. Carr, who should get some votes as this year’s MVP, has been picked off just three times this year whiling tossing 17 touchdown passes. His effective offensive line provides him with plenty of room and time and he’s definitely taking full advantage of it.
Carr has been sacked only time times so far in the campaign, which is a league low. The Broncos’ pass-rush will certainly be a tough test on Sunday though. The Raiders will need to be better disciplined against Denver since they were charged with a league record 23 penalties against Tampa for a total of 200 yards. The Oakland defense isn’t as good as its attack as it allows 25.4 points against per game along with 410 yards. They’ll be facing a struggling Denver offense though which will be without its best running back. If the Denver offense suddenly comes to life though, the Raiders could be in for a tough day and this could turn into a high-scoring affair.
