The third tennis major of the year is about to get underway as Wimbledon takes place over in England from Monday, July 3rd to Sunday, July 16th. It looks like Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal are the favorites to meet in the men’s final since they’ve both captured four tournaments so far this year, including a pair of Masters and a Grand Slam. However, we’ll also take a look at a few other contenders to win the title at the All England Club.
Federer took home his 18th major earlier in the year by winning the Australian Open and Nadal then took the French Open. On the other side of the coin, it looks like last year’s Wimbledon champ Andy Murray is struggling at the moment along with and Novak Djokovic. They enter the tournament as the top two seed respectively though, so could possibly turn things around. Federer is seeded third at Wimbledon Nadal is fourth.
2017 Wimbledon Odds – Men’s Draw:
- Roger Federer 9/4
- Rafael Nadal 9/2
- Andy Murray 7/2
- Novak Djokovic 6/1
- There are several other realistic contenders including Stan Wawrinka (25/1), Alexander Zverev (18/1), Dominic Thiem (28/1), Milos Raonic (14/1) and Marin Cilic (16/1)

2017 Wimbledon Odds – Andy Murray
Scotland’s Andy Murray is the top ranked male player in the world right now and also the top seed at Wimbledon. He’s hoping to win the event for the third time after being successful in 2013 and 2016. He made it to the fourth round of this year’s Australian Open and then reached the semifinals of the French Open against Stan Wawrinka. His only title so far in 2017 came in Dubai. If he gets knocked out of Wimbledon early, the 30-year-old Murray will likely fall from the number-one ranking. He usually picks his game up for this British tournament though and has won it twice and reached the semifinals once more in the past four years. Murray has also reached the final eight every year since 2006. The odds of Murray winning this year are currently 7/2 at bet365.
2017 Wimbledon Odds – Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic of Serbia is ranked fourth in the world and seeded second at the tournament. He’s won Wimbledon three times in the past in 2011, 2014 and 2015. He struggled last year though and made it to just the third round. So far this year he made it to the second round of the Australian Open and the quarterfinals of the French Open. His lone 2017 title has come in Doha. He’s definitely struggling since he completed a Grand Slam entering Wimbledon 12 months ago. In fact, he was the first male to hold all four major crowns at the same time since 1969 when Rod Laver did it. The 30-year-old is actually in the worst form of his career and for the first time since 2009 he isn’t ranked in the top three. He’s currently playing on the grass at Eastbourne just before Wimbledon in hopes of regaining his form. The odds of Djokovic of winning Wimbledon are 6/1.
2017 Wimbledon Odds – Roger Federer
Switzerland’s Roger Federer is currently ranked fifth in the world and is seeded third for Wimbledon. He won the event from 2003 to 2007 and again in 2009 and 2012 and made it to the semifinals last year. Federer won the Australian Open this year, but didn’t play in the French Open. He’s also won titles at Halle, Miami and Indian Wells in 2017. He’s definitely back in top form after suffering a knee injury at Wimbledon last summer and the layoff has done him good as the Australian Open win this year was the 18th major triumph for the 35-year-old. Federer wants to compete on grass only this year and is looking for a record men’s eighth Wimbledon crown and his first there in five years. He enters the event tied with Pete Sampras for seven Wimbledon wins and has also reached 10 finals there. The odds of Federer winning the title are currently 9/4.
2017 Wimbledon Odds – Rafael Nadal
Spain’s Rafael Nadal is currently ranked second in the world, but is seeded fourth for Wimbledon. He didn’t play in last year’s tournament because of a bad wrist, but won it in 2008 and 2010. He reached the final of this year’s Australian Open and then won the French Open. Nadal also has wins at Barcelona, Monte Carlo and Madrid in 2017. He’s also in good form after injury problems the past several years. History is on the 31-year-old’s side since his two Wimbledon triumphs came after French Open crowns in which he didn’t lose a set. Nadal has had a tough time at Wimbledon in his last few appearances as he’s been ousted by some marginal players, but enters the tournament in top form this time around. Nadal’s odds of winning are currently 9/2.
