There’s another huge English Premier League showdown this Sunday, March 20 as Southampton hosts Liverpool down on the south coast at St. Mary’s. Both teams are making a late push for a top-four finish and a spot in next year’s European Champions League. They each have 44 points and sit seven behind fourth-place Man City, but Liverpool has a pair of games in hand on Southampton. Liverpool drew Man United 1-1 away at Old Trafford in the Europa League on Thursday to win 3-1 on aggregate while Southampton beat Stoke City 2-1 away in their last league outing.

Liverpool won 2-0 in their away encounter last season and earned a 2-1 decision in Southampton. Saints’ goaltender Fraser Forster’s next clean sheet will be his 20th for the club. He’s played just 40 games for them so far and he could become the fourth-fastest Premier League goalie to reach 20 shut outs. Graziano Pelle scored both Southampton goals against Stoke to end a 12-game goalless streak in the league. Liverpool is aiming for their fourth-straight league win, which they last achieved in March of last year. The Reds have 13 goals in their past four league matches on the road.
Liverpool is expected to be without James Milner due to suspension as well as Kevin Stewart, Jordan Rossiter, Lucas Leiva, Joe Gomez and Danny Ings because of injuries. Southampton will be missing Charlie Austin, Florin Gardos and Jay Rodriguez due to injuries while Jose Fonte and Victor Wanyama are both suspended.
