Cincinnati heads to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough this Sunday, October 16th to battle it out with the New England Patriots. The Bengals were doubled 28-14 on the road by the Dallas Cowboys last weekend after conceding the first 28 points of the contest. Cincinnati fell to 2-3 on the season and now occupies third place in the AFC North. The Patriots downed the winless Browns 33-13 in Cleveland last Sunday in Tom Brady’s first outing of the season. New England heads into the weekend with a 4-1 record to lead the AFC East.

Cincinnati Bengals – A Closer Look:
The Bengals are 1-3-1 ATS this season and don’t really look like the AFC contenders they’re supposed to be at the moment. The Cowboys had their way with them on both sides of the ball last week and they paid for it with a 28-14 defeat to fall to 0-2-1 ATS away from home. The Bengals managed to put 14 points on the board after falling behind by 28, but the offense was silent for the first three quarters of the contest. The defense didn’t perform much better as the Cowboys’ hurt them on the ground as well with their impressive running game.
The Bengals’ offensive line is struggling this year and hasn’t been able to protect quarterback Andy Dalton or put together a consistent rushing game. The team’s third-down percentage was just 27.8 per cent after week 4, which was ranked 31st in the league. The defense is still Cincinnati’s strongest link though and it could prove to be a bit tough for Brady in his first home of the season. The Bengals’ pass rush is pretty good and led by Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap. They’ll be up against an offensive line that is likely the Patriots’ weakest link.
New England Patriots – A Closer Look:
There was no rust in Brady’s game as he returned to the lineup in Cleveland last weekend. The quarterback racked up 406 yards in their 33-13 win and added three touchdown passes. New England went 3-1 without the veteran at the helm and is now 4-1 on the year both straight up and ATS. Rob Gronkowski also had a good game with 109 yards in five receptions. In addition, Chris Hogan led the squad with 114 yards on four catches and Martellus Bennett scored three touchdowns on half a dozen receptions.
Brady spread the ball around well as five of his teammates registered at least four catches during the game. It was a good performance after being shut out by Buffalo at home a week earlier, but let’s not forget it came against Cleveland, the only winless team in the NFL so far this season. The Patriots have gone 14-1 at home in Brady’s last 15 starts and are 9-3-3 ATS during that stretch. The defense has also been solid and allows just 14.8 points against on average per game and will be facing a struggling Cincinnati offense.
