The highlight of this weekend’s English Premier League action is the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Gunners’ Emirates Stadium on Sunday, November 8. Both clubs were in action during the week in European competition with Arsenal falling 5-1 to German Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich in the European Champions League and Spurs edging Anderlecht of Belgium 2-1 in the Europa League.

Arsenal vs Tottenham – Head to Head
- Spurs have won just one game at the Emirates in their past 22 visits there with eight draws and 13 losses. Last year’s fixture at the Emirates ended in a 1-1 draw while Spurs won their home match 2-1. Arsenal also knocked Spurs out of the League Cup last season with a 2-1 away win. Arsenal has six wins, a draw and two losses in their last nine games against Spurs and have outscored them 19-10. Overall, the two London sides have met 189 times with Arsenal winning 80, losing 61 and drawing the other 48.
Arsenal enters the weekend in a first-place tie with Manchester City with 25 points. They’ve racked up eight wins, a draw and two defeats with 21 goals for and a league-low eight against. Tottenham sits five points behind their rivals with 20 points from five victories, five draws and just one defeat. They’ve scored 19 times and conceded nine.
Arsenal is tough to beat at home since they’ve dropped just two games in their past 18 league outings at the Emirates with 13 wins and three draws. They’ve won their past five league games overall and have found the back of the net at least twice in all five contests and three of the triumphs have been clean sheets. They’re on a three-game winning streak at home and have outscored their opponents 7-1 in that stretch. French international striker Olivier Giroud has been leading the way offensively with five goals on his past seven league outings.
Spurs haven’t lost a league match since the season opener when they were downed 1-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on an own goal by Kyle Walker. They’ve won half of their 10 games since then, but have dropped 10 points by drawing the other five. They’ve also been hot on the road since the end of last season with four wins, four draws and two losses going back to 2014/15. English international striker Harry Kane has started to pick up the pace and has four goals in this past two league fixtures and also tallied against Anderlecht on Thursday.
Arsenal has won four, drawn one and lost one in their last six Premier League home games while Spurs have three wins, two draws and a defeat in their past half dozen away encounters. As always, Arsenal has a long injury list with four English internationals on the sidelines. These are midfielders Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as well as forwards Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck. Also expected to miss the game are midfielders Aaron Ramsey, Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta, defender Hector Bellerin and backup goaltender David Ospina.
On the bright side, it looks like French international defender Laurent Koscielny may be back in the lineup for Arsenal. Tottenham also has some injury problems of their own as Danny Rose and Bentaleb are doubtful and Nacer Chadli is expected to miss the match.
