Arsenal vs Manchester United – Head to Head:
- United won 2-1 at Arsenal last season and drew 1-1 at Old Trafford. However, Arsenal knocked United out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 away win. United is unbeaten in their past four visits to the Emirates and the Gunners struggle against the league leaders as their win percentage against United is just 24 per cent since the Premier League was launched. Overall, the two sides have met times in the past with United winning 95 times, losing 80 and drawing the other 46. Arsenal has lost 13 out of their last 20 meetings in all competitions with just three wins and four draws to go along with them.
United enter the encounter with 16 points from five wins, a draw and a loss. They’ve scored 12 goals so far this season and have allowed five against. Arsenal is in fourth place with 13 points from four victories, a draw and a pair of defeats. They’ve scored 10 times and conceded seven. The Gunners will be without English international midfielder Jack Wilshere as usual and it looks like French international defender Laurent Koscielny is also sidelined. It also looks like Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta and French midfielder Mathieu Flamini will also miss the match. English international midfielder Michael Carrick missed United’s match against Wolfsburg, but is expected back on Sunday.
Arsenal has one win, one draw and one loss at home in Premier League play this campaign with two goals scored and two allowed. United has won a pair and drawn their other away game in 2015/16 with five goals for and four against. Arsenal has definitely struggled against United over the past couple of decades and have had some of their worst-ever performances against them. The Gunners are an unpredictable side since they can look like magicians with the ball one game and like cellar dwellers the next. That’s what makes this game so unpredictable. One thing is for certain and that is the Gunners can draw level with United if they can pull off a home victory on Sunday.
