The Pittsburgh Steelers rolled through the Miami Dolphins pretty good last week to advance one step further in the playoffs, and they can be considered one of the hottest teams in football right now. With eight straight victories under their belts, they travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs. Steelers vs Chiefs – CJ’s Take:
The Steelers jumped all over Miami early last week, scoring on two long touchdown passes from Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown. The Dolphins, who were affected by the cold weather, never really got themselves into the game, and the improved Steelers defense forced three turnovers. As we mentioned, this is eight consecutive victories for this team, and they have scored at least 24 points in every one of them. If there was one thing of concern coming out of the contest it was that Roethlisberger tweaked his ankle right at the tail end, leaving some critics to question why coach Mike Tomlin had him in the game when his team was up by 18 points. Big Ben had to put a walking boot on, but he says he’ll be ready to play, and given his history, we don’t doubt him one bit.
These teams actually met earlier in the season, albeit under different circumstances. The Steelers were just come off a crushing 34-3 defeat at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles, and they were angry when they took the field at home against the Kansas City squad that had just been gifted the week before with six interceptions by the Jets’ Ryan Fitzpatrick. Just like they did against Miami, Pittsburgh got off to a rousing start, and by the time the first quarter was over, the game, in effect, was over as well, with the Steelers holding a 22-0 lead. That inflated to 36-0 entering the fourth quarter, and wound up a 43-14 final. That was the first game back for Le’Veon Bell, the star running back who had served a three-game suspension to start the season. Bell had 144 yards on the ground in that game, and Roethlisberger had five touchdown passes. It was utter dominance.

These guys have to play well for the Chiefs to keep pace, because Pittsburgh’s “Big Three” is in tremendous form right now.
