The Seattle Seahawks have won the last two NFC championship games, and perhaps came within one bad play call of a second consecutive world title. Now they are back in the post-season, and their quarterback is about as sharp as he has ever been. On Sunday, Russell Wilson will lead the Seahawks into the Divisional Round of the NFC playoffs as they visit the Carolina Panthers, who are the #1 seed in the conference. The action will begin at 1:05 PM ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Fox Network provides television coverage, and even though Vietbet customers can get reduced juice on this game, they don’t have to stop wagering after the opening kickoff, as they can access Live Betting Extra to challenge the odds in real time - even as the game is in progress!

The Seahawks entertained the Panthers in their sixth game of the season at Century Link Field, and this was admittedly at a point in time when Seattle hadn’t really gotten itself together yet. Still, the 5-0 (at the time) Panthers showed tremendous character in coming back from a 13-point deficit, and they showed they were for real. But it had to be absolutely gut-wrenching for Seattle fans (the “12th Man”) to see their stop unit give up TWO 80-yard drives in the last four minutes to win 27-23.

What made the Panthers formidable in that game is what makes them dangerous here, and that is the play from Greg Olsen at the tight end spot. Olsen caught seven passes for 131 yards, including that winning TD from Newton, and that exemplified the difficulties Seattle has had on defense, which is the inability to shut down opposing tight ends, who have made 75 catches for 873 yards. Can the Seahawks get a handle on Olsen? It’s a good question.

Seattle almost fell victim to the cold in Minneapolis last weekend, as the sub-zero temperatures did not allow them to operate their offense the way they wanted to. They had only 226 yards and 13 first downs, and had no points whatsoever until the fourth quarter. And they barely got away with a 10-9 victory against a team they had punished to the tune of 38-7 just five weeks before, and only because the Vikings’ Blair Walsh missed a short field goal at the end.

Russell Wilson went only 13 of 26 for 142 yards and was intercepted, but we have seen how well he’s done under better conditions down the stretch. In the last seven games of the regular season, Wilson threw 24 touchdown passes with only one interception, and this was happening as he was without Jimmy Graham, a tight end who is even better than Olsen.

Vietbet patrons also know that it was almost completely coincidental with the absence of Marshawn Lynch, who was sitting out with an abdominal injury and eventually had to have sports hernia surgery. It was clear that Lynch was not having his best season (just 3.8 ypc), and so the focus of the offense shifted to the quarterback. The guy who calls himself “Beast Mode” was supposed to play last week, but mysteriously pulled himself out of consideration. But he is “encouraged to go for it” this week, according to coach Pete Carroll. How would he change this offense?

Defense will obviously tell a lot of the story for the Seahawks in their quest for a third straight Super Bowl appearance. They have allowed the fewest touchdowns per drive in the league and force their opponents to punt 52.4% of the time (an NFL best), but the stunning statistics don’t end there. Seattle has won its last six road games, and in all those games they have allowed a total of ONE offensive touchdown.

If you are strongly considering supporting the Panthers in your NFL betting, that is something you need to think about.
